A starved dog arrived at a Florida shelter

Slideshow: Miracle
West Palm Beach, FL - A few short days ago, the Pompano Beach Animal Control received an emaciated Shih-Tzu.
The dog, so gaunt that it seemed unlikely that he could survive, arrived to the shelter in an orange bucket.
The shelter immediately sent out a desperate plea to help the starved dog which read as follows:

He is extremely emaciated and covered in fleas. He only weighs five and a half pounds but he should definitely weigh much more. We think he is about 3 years old. He is very anemic and will need some TLC to get better. If your group is able to rescue him please reply

Thankfully, one organization promptly responded and now, this little dog is safe, recovering and now has a name - “Miracle”.
A Second Chance for Puppies and Kittens, a Florida non-profit animal rescue, took in Miracle, who went to stay with the Director of foster services, Ruth.

The rescue posted the following just moments ago on their Facebook page,

Miracle, the Shih Tzu pup update: He is very sweet and follows me everywhere already. We took a nap today and he snuggled on the bed with me along with my other dogs. He is eating lots of canned puppy food and has been going to the bathroom regularly. I was concerned that he might be in kidney failure due to his emaciated state, but he seems to be peeing regularly. He will be going to see Dr. Fox at River Bridge Animal Hospital tomorrow where he will get checked out and get a heart worm test and maybe a rabies vaccine if Dr. Fox determines he is ok to get one.

Needless to say, everyone who has seen this frail dog has been appalled by his deplorable state of health.
There has also been a beautiful outpouring of support.
It is hard to imagine how someone could allow this to happen - standing by to watch another life slowly sink into the depths of extreme starvation.
Undoubtedly, the past several months, if not years, have been full of suffering for Miracle. Thankfully, those days are past.
Please keep this lovely dog in your thoughts as he fights to regain his health - he has a long road ahead.
But today, that road is paved with compassion and kindness, instead of cruelty and neglect.
Thank you to A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue for answering this cry for help.

Aww! Lady! I miss my cocker spaniel. She was a beautiful, loving, faithful dog.
When we first picked her up, she bit me, and I didn’t tell anyone. It was only because she was afraid of new people. I’m glad I didn’t, Dad might have not let us take her home.
She ended up very devoted to us. She would bark and chase my brother’s friends, but would let Ming walk in the house with no problem. She’d whimper at the thunder, but stand strong as if to protect us despite her fear. If we kissed a plushie to tease her, she’d jump on our laps, push the plushie away with her nose, and demand we give her kisses. If you called my name, she’d howl “OOoowwwooowowowowo”
Before she died, she finally broke out of the kitchen, and bit my brother’s douche bag friend. She’ been trying to do that for YEARS. So I like to think that he life was complete before she passed.
I’ll never forget you Lady.
